Conference League: AS Roma meets Feyenoord in the final – Mourinho achieves a novelty

Abraham becomes the match winner

AS Roma and Feyenoord Rotterdam are playing the first final in Conference League history. The fifth-placed in Serie A won the semi-final second leg against Leicester City 1-0 (1-0) on Thursday evening after coach José Mourinho’s team had drawn 1-1 in the first leg in England. Tammy Abraham (11th minute) scored the decisive goal with a header from a corner.

By making it into the final, Mourinho achieved a novelty: he was the first coach to reach a final of the Champions, Europe and now the new Conference League. “It was a family win,” said the Giallorossi coach on Sky Sports Italia. “Not only on the field or on the bench, but also in the stadium. I think that empathy and sense of family is the greatest victory. We showed an exceptional game. Now we are going to the final and we want to win.”

Feyenoord handed in a 0-0 draw at Olympique Marseille. The third-placed Eredivisie team won the first leg a week ago 3-2. The final will take place on May 25 (9 p.m.) in Tirana, Albania.
