Leicester (dpa) – The AS Roma of star coach Jose Mourinho has given itself a good chance of reaching the final in the Conference League.
The sixth-placed in the Italian soccer championship drew 1-1 (0-1) at Leicester City in the first leg of the semifinals. Lorenzo Pellegrini (15th minute) put the Romans ahead against England, who were tenth in the table. Ademola Lookman (67th), loaned to Leicester by Bundesliga club RB Leipzig, equalizes for the hosts.
In the other semi-final, Feyenoord Rotterdam celebrated a home win. The third-placed in the Dutch championship defeated Olympique Marseille 3-2 (2-2) in their own stadium. Cyriel Dessers (18’/46′) with a brace and Luis Sinisterra (20′) scored the goals for the hosts. Ahmadou Bamba Dieng (28th) and Gerson (40th) scored for France’s second in the championship.
Both semi-final second legs will take place next Thursday. The winners will play for the title on May 25 in Tirana, Albania.
