My vacation

“This year I will make a short road trip through Scotland with Daniëlle. I always wanted to go with a special woman to a Sam Fender concert. When I met Daniëlle, I thought: now the moment is. She came up with the idea of making a trip immediately.

We sleep in special accommodations in the Scottish Highlands and on the coast. Daniëlle works as a travel agent, so she knows how to find those places in great detail. With a rental car we will discover Scotland. The last two nights we stay near Edinburgh because of the concert. Those days are all about Sam Fender and a whiskey tasting.

Music helped me through a dark period in my life. I lost my wife on a pulmonary embolism in one fell swoop. At that time I promised myself once with a special woman to go to a concert of the music that dragged me through. ”

Budget

“This is the first time that I sleep in such special, small -scale accommodations. It is also the first time I combine a concert with a tour. We don’t have a fixed budget; we just do what we like. It doesn’t have to be the top, but we want to enjoy.

Holidays are part of our lifestyle; We take that into account all year round, we don’t have to save it especially for it. When we travel with the camper, we often cook ourselves. Like the pipowagen: you can barbecue there. Then we get groceries and light the fire. Of course we also go out for dinner, preferably at local restaurants. They are often not the most expensive. “

Biggest cost

“For the tickets, overnight stays and the concert we paid around € 2,000 together. We stay in a pipowagen (€ 130 per night) and a converted sea container with a view of the sea. The overnight stay in the highlands has arranged Daniëlle, that is a surprise for me. It will not be a standard accommodation anyway.

The flight cost € 250 per person, which we booked ourselves. We also arranged the rental car ourselves, for € 250. ”

Most expensive trip

“A winter sports holiday with the children to Trysil in Norway. The costs were € 8,000 for my family, including airline tickets, stay, ski passes, and so on.”

Future

“There is enough misery in the world, but there is also light. I have found that – together with music – in riffs, lyrics and fantastic voices. For me this will be a special moment: a dream come true.

My life motto is now: live your dreams and don’t wait. Life goes way too fast and is terribly unpredictable. “
