Ajax announced that the ongoing negotiations for compensation with the family of Abdelhak Nouri, who fell into a coma after getting sick in the friendly match played against Werder Bremen 4.5 years ago and woke up 2.5 years later, have come to an end.


The player, who was then 22 years old and had an automatic contract extension clause in his contract after 1 July 2020, was not exercised by his club Ajax. Hollande team, however, paid Nouri’s salary until 1 July, when his contract was terminated, and provided regular financial support to his family.


The compensation lawsuit filed by Nouri’s family for wrongful termination has been concluded. During negotiations on compensation, Ajax agreed to pay € 7.85 million compensation to Abdelhak Nouri’s family for unfairly terminating his contract.

WHAT HAPPENED TO ABDELHAK NOURI?


Nouri let himself down in the 72nd minute of the friendly match played on 8 July between Ajax and Werder Bremen. The Dutch football player of Moroccan origin was taken to the hospital by helicopter after the intervention on the field.


Ajax announced that severe and permanent damage was detected in the brain of Abdelhak Nouri, who was hospitalized due to a heart rhythm disorder.


Ajax, in a statement on 9 July, noted that Nouri was out of danger after the intensive treatment.
