The men’s contribution to the costume splendor of the Linna celebrations was weak this year, writes Iltalehti news manager Emmi Oksanen.

In recent years, the male guests at Linna’s parties have taken a joyful leap forward. More interesting party outfits have been seen on men than before, which have still sat elegantly with the etiquette of the parties or tested the etiquette with good taste.
This year there was an unfortunate backlash. Women shined in different colors and in different ways in inventive outfits, and women’s outfits even provided talking points for bonfires and coffee tables, but very few men did this.
A happy exception was made by the producer Matti Myllyaho with his tailcoat decorated with gold roses and a circus performer Lovely Lintusaariwhose black outfit, jewelry and hairstyle were among the most interesting of the evening.
– In the suit, I wanted to emphasize my characteristic androgyny, and Riika and I ended up with a version of a dark suit, where the combination of very wide-legged overalls and an oversized suit gives the illusion of a dress, Lintusaari said on Instagram.
The outfit was completed by Lintusaari’s father’s jewelry, a ruby-decorated silver snake “Kefeus”. Great outfit!
The KAJ band also did a good job by Kevin Holmström, by Axel Åhman and by Jakob Norrgård in tailcoat decorations inspired by the shape language of a birch leaf.

However, I expect more from men. So, better next year, men, thank you.
