Just when the corona pandemic was over, the screenwriters and actors went on strike in Hollywood. This delayed not only the making of new films, but also the arrival of already completed films in cinemas. Since the striking Actors could not promote the films on press tours, their premieres were postponed. Therefore, some of the expected films were postponed to 2024.
Partly because of this, the year that is about to start looks downright extremely interesting in terms of films.
US Civil War
One of the most exciting original works of the year is set in the near future Civil War, which chillingly describes the civil war breaking out in the United States. The film has had time to create a stir even before its premiere, after all, the political atmosphere in the country is highly charged due to the presidential elections held at the end of 2024.
The first trailer of the film reveals that the film offers big money action and excitement. The film was directed by a respected Englishman Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Annihilation) and in its main parts can be seen, among other things Jesse Plemons and Kirsten Dunst. The film premieres in the United States in April.

A spectacle from Sweden
Rough action is served right at the beginning of the year from Sweden, when Finnish cinemas are attacked on January 19 Stockholm Bloodbath (Stockholm Massacre). The action film, based on true events from the 16th century, is directed by someone who has also tried his wings in Hollywood Mikael Håfström and it is aimed at, among other things Claes Bang mixed Alba August. Beetlejuice 2
As in recent years, 2024 will also be one of the fireworks of sequels.
Many movie geeks’ dreams come true when the 1988 horror-comedy classic Beetlejuice finally gets a sequel after decades of waiting. And in the main roles, we can still see people familiar from the first film Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder. In addition, they are involved in the adventure Monica Bellucci and Willem Dafoe. The director’s place is of course familiar from the first part Tim Burton. The premiere of the film will probably take place in September.
Gladiator 2
Perhaps the most exciting sequel of the year, however by Ridley Scott guided by Gladiator 2. This movie has also been waiting for a long time. Original Gladiator appeared in 2000 and was not only an audience favorite but also an Oscar contender. Over time, the appreciation of the film has only grown. In 2024, we will finally see a sci-fi epic Dune the second part, which was supposed to be in cinemas as early as 2023. The premiere of the film is in Finland on February 28.
And the continuation is enough for many other stories: Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (March), Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (May), Deadpool 3 (July), as well as Joker: Folie à Deux (October).
