Colorado Avalanche has won the Stanley Cup for the third time in history. The Denver ice hockey team was 4-2 too strong for defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning in the best-of-seven series of the NHL final.

In the sixth game, the ‘The Avs’ won 2-1 on the night from Sunday to Monday, ending a run of two titles in a row by Tampa Bay Lightning.

Tampa Bay Lightning took the lead at home in the first period via captain Steven Stamkos, but the visitors turned the score around in the second period. Nathan MacKinnon kicked off the comeback early in the second period with a rake one timer†

About ten minutes later, MacKinnon was again important, this time as the principal. The Canadian brought the puck with the necessary luck to Artturi Lehkonen, who scored convincingly. In the last period, the outstanding Avalanche goalkeeper Darcy Kuemper did not score.

For Colorado Avalanche, it marks the third victory of the Stanley Cup, the most prestigious club award in ice hockey, after 1996 and 2001. The Conn Smythe Trophy for the best player of the playoffs went to defender Cale Makar.
