The 1. FC Köln disappointed in the friendly against Fortuna Cologne. After the 2-2 despite the 2-0 lead, Lukas Kwasniok and his players went to court hard.

It took two weeks: Now the players of 1. FC Köln know what they can expect from their new coach Lukas Kwasniok if they do not perform. On Friday, the city duel against Fortuna Cologne was on the test game program, and after a 2-0 lead, the FC had to be satisfied with a 2-2.

Jusuf Gazibegovic and Florian Kainz put the billy goats in the lead in the second half. Hamadi al-Ghaddioui equalized with a double pack in the final phase. But not the two goals gave up after the game, but the entire appearance of his team.

“We played a good game in the first 15 to 20 minutes, but then it went heavily because we lost the structure and made many technical mistakes,” said the FC coach. “That went through until the 90th minute. It was not a glory sheet and shows that we have to continue working hard.”

In the initial phase, his team showed “significant progress” compared to the previous week. In the game with the ball, pressing and playing out the chances of scoring, FC achieved a lot. Then, however, the players lost the thread and couldn’t find it again. “We didn’t remain true to ourselves. It became very slow and faulty.” And then Kwasniok started with the hard criticism: “That almost had a sports festival atmosphere without dynamics.”

“We have to be so honest: for some it is far from enough for the Bundesliga and with others the point may have come that it is no longer enough for the Bundesliga,” said Kwasniok Knallhart. “We have to put things on the table so honestly. But we will do that internally.”

On Saturday, the billy goats travel to the training camp in Bad Waltersdorf, and if Kwasniok will remain loyal to his words, not all players who were on the lawn on Friday will be on board. “We will put our fingers in the wound,” said Kwasniok. “It is not just about the play tactical area, but also about quality, and we will communicate that to the boys.”

On Friday evening at Fortuna, in addition to Sargis Adamyan with Jacob Christensen and Malek El Mala, two more players were already missing. Other professionals are likely to be added, which will find themselves in Cologne in Cologne in the coming week and will train at the U21. Kwasniok did not yet want to reveal which players will be.
