BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – The next round of tariffs at Deutsche Bahn begins on Thursday (10 a.m.) – initially without any impact on passengers. There is a peace obligation up to and including February, during which no industrial action is possible for the German Locomotive Drivers’ Union (GDL). She is demanding 8 percent more money in the collective bargaining dispute.

3.8 percent of this should come from a wage increase. The union wants to achieve the further increases through restructuring in the collective bargaining system. Specifically, this involves the introduction of a new tariff level. The term of the new collective agreement should be twelve months.

It is the first round of collective bargaining after the era of the former GDL boss Claus Weselsky. The new union chairman Mario Reiß will lead the negotiations for the union./maa/DP/men
