The Parisian shoe label Rombaut and the Chinese brand Angel Chen have come together in an unusual way. A fake pair that combined design elements from both brands has led to Angel Chen and Rombaut releasing a joint model.
The allegedly counterfeit shoe combines a Rombaut upper with an Angel Chen sole, the brands announced on Saturday. The collaboration between Rombaut and Angel Chen is available in low top and high top, in black, white and green. As well as Rombaut’s signature ‘snow chain’ harness, the models are also adorned with ‘dragon horns’, a nod to Angel Chen’s Fall/Winter 21 collection.
“While such a discovery strikes a chord with fledgling independent labels whose designs exist through blood, sweat and tears, it happened to spark a conversation between the two creatives about a potential collaboration: turning that ‘fake shoe’ into something fun, something , which conveys the values of both brands, namely respect, and to design their own hybrid,” the labels say about the collaboration.
The Rombaut and Angel Chen collaboration is available in the Rombaut online store and at select retailers such as Ssense and Lane Crawford.
