The two environmental streets in the municipality of Coevorden both remain open. The municipality recently conducted research into the option to close one environment, but the residents prefer to retain both environmental streets.

“We have listened carefully to our residents through a survey and meetings,” says alderman Jeroen Huizing (CDA). “In addition, we have extensively investigated whether preservation of both environmental streets is financially and practically feasible.” The investigation showed that this is the case. “That is why we choose to retain and improve them so that they are ready for the future,” explains Huizing.

Searching for one suitable location for a environment is a difficult process and can take a few years according to the research. Moreover, it appears that the preservation of both locations has no major disadvantages and that both places can be prepared for the future.

The Coevorden municipal yard is due for replacement. This is the place where municipal workers of the field service work and where vehicles and materials stand for the maintenance of the public space. The Commission proposes to the city council to build a new yard in the Dalen/Oosterhesselen area.

At a council meeting, the city council still has to agree to the proposals of the college.
