Every edition of Linda de Mol’s magazine holds a double interview with a surprising celebrity couple. In the latest issue, the degraded Radio 538 star Coen Swijnenberg and the abused influencer Jaimie Vaes are placed side by side. When the presenter was asked for this, he had to hesitate for a while.

Big opposites

Coen makes the confession during the interview with Jaimie. “I don’t think you can find more polar opposites than you and me, so I had to think about whether I wanted to do this interview,” he says. Then quickly: “But not for long, because I am very curious how you are doing.”

The two were probably put together because of their passion for hot air. He fills his radio show with it, she her lips. Lips that thankfully haven’t been battered in a while. Coen is very shocked that Jaimie has been so mistreated. “I got a stomach ache from the things I saw passing by.”

Unscrew

Jaimie says that she is doing very well now, although she does notice in her current relationship that her ex Lil Kleine has damaged her. “I do notice that I am more fierce than before: I sometimes react a bit more strongly to him, because I never want to put myself in such a toxic situation again. I want to keep control, set boundaries.”

Fortunately, her new friend Afshin understands that well, says Jaimie. “Unlike my ex, Afshin is mature: we can talk about things. There may still be a small screw loose with me, but it is slowly being tightened again.”

Coen’s degradation

In the interview, Coen also talks about his relegation from Radio 538. He has lost the coveted afternoon peak show and now makes radio at a time for the lesser gods. “I know that things are not always chic in our world, but it still hit me pretty hard.”

It must feel like a failure to be demoted like that. Does he see it as a step backwards? “It feels that way, but that’s okay, because making radio makes me happy. (…) It is what it is, it doesn’t keep me awake and we can still make our program every week.”
