The KNMI warns with code yellow for slippery conditions and dense fog. The warning has been issued for Drenthe until 10 a.m. this morning.
“The slipperiness is caused by freezing fog (frost formation) and possibly also by freezing of wet road sections,” the meteorological institute said. “The slippery conditions can be very treacherous and are dangerous for traffic.” The slippery warning applies to the entire Netherlands with the exception of Limburg, North Brabant, Zeeland and the Wadden Islands.
In addition to slipperiness, traffic in the Northern Netherlands must also take into account poor visibility due to fog. “Locally this is dense fog,” reports the KNMI. “The fog will slowly spread southwards towards the center of the country in the coming hours.”
