Coastal tram derails in Nieuwpoort
The incident occurred around 3.30 pm near a roundabout on Elisalaan in Nieuwpoort-Bad. The coastal tram ended up next to the tracks, but there were no injuries. Technicians from De Lijn are currently on site to measure any damage. It will then be decided whether the derailed tram should be towed.
Tram traffic was not interrupted by the accident. In Nieuwpoort-Bad, of course, only one track can be used on part of the route. According to De Lijn, however, there is in principle no hindrance or delay for passengers. The City of Nieuwpoort does ask that some nuisance be taken into account.
