At second division bottom club Eintracht Braunschweig, coach Jens Härtel is under massive pressure after the 3-0 defeat at newly promoted SV Elversberg. Sports director Peter Vollmann said on “Sky” on Friday evening: “First of all, Jens is our coach. We’ll talk about it tomorrow. And I assume that he will stay that way.”
However, Vollmann announced talks “with the committees” such as the supervisory board and management for Saturday. And that’s exactly where the decision was made in the summer to part ways with Härtel’s predecessor Michael Schiele, despite promotion in 2022 and relegation in 2023. At that time, too, Vollmann initially expressed a slight pro-Schiele tendency after the end of the season.
The former Magdeburg and Rostock coach Härtel only managed one win in eleven competitive games with Eintracht. BTSV scored the fewest points (5) and scored the fewest goals (6) in the new season of the 2nd Bundesliga – the last time they had an even lower number of points after ten games was in 2013/14, but at that time they had four in the Bundesliga. In the end we went to the second division.
Regarding his own future, the 54-year-old, who has a points average of 0.45, said on “Sky”: “It’s not about me at all. If someone can do it better, then they should do it. If the points don’t come, then things get restless. This is nothing new.”
