Coach Breitenreiter wins the championship title with FC Zurich

Basel (AP) – Former Bundesliga coach André Breitenreiter won the Swiss football championship with FC Zurich.

The traditional club won 2-0 (2-0) at pursuers FC Basel on the fifth-to-last matchday and, with a 16-point lead, can no longer be pushed from the top. For Zurich it was the first championship title since 2009 and the 13th success in the club’s history.

In front of 32,000 spectators, Assan Ceesay (40th minute) and Nikola Boranijasevic (45th + 3) with their goals made the title win for FCZ perfect. For Breitenreiter, who led SC Paderborn and Hannover 96 into the Bundesliga and also coached FC Schalke 04, it was the greatest success of his coaching career. The 48-year-old has been in Zurich since the start of the season.
