According to a spokesperson for Brin’s family, approximately $1 billion in shares will go to Catalyst4, which the billionaire founded in 2021 to support research into nervous system diseases and solutions to climate change.

Brin also gives about $90 million to his family fund, as well as $45 million to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which supports research into Parkinson’s disease. In May, Brin had already donated Alphabet shares worth $700 million to the same three charities.
The multi-billionaire was born in Moscow into a Russian Jewish family. When he was six, the family emigrated to the United States. He founded Google with Larry Page and was CEO of parent company Alphabet until 2019.
