Modeste’s contract with Borussia Dortmund expired in the summer. With just two goals in 28 games, the former top scorer for 1. FC Köln was unable to meet the expectations of the runner-up. The veteran recently kept fit with the regional league team Fortuna Cologne, but ruled out a permanent commitment: “I keep myself fit here, that’s all. I am very grateful for that.” Speculation about a return to FC had been denied by both sides in recent weeks. In the TM rumor mill, Eintracht Frankfurt and the French clubs Girondins Bordeaux and AC Le Havre, among others, were linked to Modeste (for an overview).

Modeste about the uncertain future: “Fortunately, there are always offers”

“Fortunately, there are always offers, but it has to be right,” says Modeste at the portal “Geissblog.com” quoted. According to reports, the right-winger still favors staying in Germany if an opportunity arises. It is said that a decision regarding El Ahly is expected in the coming days.

The Egyptian club has been coached by former Cologne coach Marcel Koller for a year. The Swiss has since achieved the league and cup double, won the Egyptian Super Cup twice and the African Champions League.
