Jobe Bellingham closed for the brother duel
The game against Real Madrid is the new edition of the final of the Champions League 2024, which the Spaniards won 2-0. It is also a duel between the two brothers Jew and Jobe Bellingham. However, the Dortmund Jobe will have to follow it from the bank or grandstand, because the newcomer from the AFC Sunderland saw the second yellow card of the tournament against Monterrey and is therefore closed.
Jude Bellingham, who earned his money from the Westphalia between 2020 and 2023, will play the club World Cup before he will undergo shoulder surgery and will be out for months.
Significantly more pleasant conditions in Atlanta
The yield of seven points from three games indicated a sovereign qualification for the round of 16. BVB’s games in the group phase ran rather slowly. This was also due to the temperatures of significantly more than 30 degrees Celsius in the two games in Cincinatti, which hardly made a fast -paced and powerful game possible.
In this respect, the Dortmund were glad that they were allowed to compete in the evening when the roof in Atlanta was closed at much more pleasant temperatures. The better conditions were noticeable, because it went forward much faster, and pressing was also more aggressive and therefore more effective.
Adeyemi on Guirassy – Tor
The foundation stone for victory was laid in the first half hour. The first goal was “particularly worth seeing” from the category, even if the end was not spectacular. Ramy Bensebaini played a sharp pass in the middle that Guirassy dripped on Adeyemi. After the double pass, the center forward stood freely in front of Monterrey’s goalkeeper Esteban Andrada and pushed the ball past the short corner on the left.
In the 2-0 2-0, Adeyemi put back on Guirassy, which the Mexicans had left alone for their star defender Sergio Ramos. The striker from Guinea, shared top scorer of the Champions League, shot into his third tournament gate – this time into the right corner.
Guirassy received two more good chances before the break in order to take the Mexicans all hope. But with a 0: 2 hope remained, and it was nourished early after the break.
Svensson with bad luck in header defense
Daniel Svensson was unlucky at the connection goal of Monterreys. The Dortmund clarified a cross with the back of the head, but hit his opponent with the ball in the face so that the rebound became a perfect template for Berterame, who was considering the run by Gregor Kobel.
The Dortmund goalkeeper, already well employed in the group phase and with strong performance, then became more and more important. After an hour of play, the Swiss saved against Jesús Corona, who had already hit the post with a slipped flank in the first half.
Süle with speed problems
In the second half, Monterrey showed why there was no defeat from the group phase and the games against Inter Milan (1: 1), River Plate (0: 0) and Urawa Red Diamonds (4: 0).
In particular, Niklas Süle, who was the only Dortmund to get into the team compared to the 1-0 against Ulsan HD, had problems. The rights of the three central defenders ran after more often, even with a hit from Berterame, which had previously been offside.
It was also Süle who lost a header duel with the former real professional Ramos in added time. The ball flew past the post in centimeters.
Premium of more than eleven million euros
The BVB significantly reduced in the second half, but saved itself into the quarter -finals and is therefore happy about further premiums of more than eleven million euros.
