Club Brugge supporter (18) sentenced to five months in prison in Denmark | News

The young Club Brugge supporter (18) who ended up in a Danish youth prison in early August after the European match against Aarhus, has been sentenced by a court to five months in prison. This is reported by the Danish police. The teenager is appealing against his sentence.

The distraught mother of the then 17-year-old Club supporter told HLN two weeks ago that her son was being “treated inhumanely”. According to her, the man suffered a nervous breakdown during his incarceration and suffered from panic attacks. Now the teenager has been sentenced by the court in Aarhus to five months in prison.

On August 3, just over a thousand supporters of Blue and Black traveled to Denmark to attend the preliminary round in the Conference League. After the match against Danish Aarhus, about twenty Club supporters were arrested. The then 17-year-old West Flemish man was the only one who was arrested and ended up in a youth prison.

The now 18-year-old boy from Jabbeke is said to have taken off the shirt of a 14-year-old Dane during a skirmish. That 14-year-old was also punched and beaten. After the facts, the teenager from Jabbeke was caught with the stolen shirt. He was also wearing a balaclava and a mouthguard. But that’s not the only thing the judge convicted him of.

Mobile phone data

According to Danish media, the court focuses on information found on the teenager’s mobile phone. According to Danish public prosecutor Bjørn Fogh Sørensen, the young supporter had looked up where there was and where there was no video surveillance. Police also found photos of the man posing with clenched fists and a mouthguard. And he looked for places where they could meet Aarhus fans.

According to Danish media, the man from Jabbeke denied that he was behind the attack on the 14-year-old. Yet he was given a five-month prison sentence. He is also banned from entering the country for six years, will be deported and must remain in custody so he can serve his sentence. He appealed that decision.
