Club Brugge goes under at Eupen

Eupen got off to a flying start at home. Within a minute, the Pandas already had a surprising lead: Stanley Nsoki let Gary Magnée (1.) run away from his back way too easily, as a result of which the wing player Simon Mignolet took a good header. FCB did not have to wait long for the equalizer, however: Jack Hendry, who was preferred over Brandon Mechele, was the Eupenian goalkeeper Abdul Nurudeen with his head too fast on a corner. Ferran Jutgla (7.) was able to score his first league goal against the nets in Bruges’ wages. Still, the host took the lead a second time when Smail Prevljak (19.) cleverly outwitted Mignolet in the bottom left corner.

Even against 10, Blauw-Zwart does not score

In the opening quarter of the second half, Prevljak missed two great chances for a double margin. With a triple substitution just past the hour, Carl Hoefkens tried in vain to force a turnaround. Even when Eupen had to continue with the tens with a quarter game to go, after Magnée was ruled out with a second yellow card, the 2-1 on the board remained at Kehrweg.
