Club boss makes cryptic comments about Thomas Tuchel’s future

After the defeat in Bochum, many fans expected Thomas Tuchel to be out. But the club strengthened him. Now a boss took a different tone.

When FC Bayern’s game at VfL Bochum was called off on Sunday, for some supporters of the record champions it was only a matter of time before the announcement of Thomas Tuchel’s release would follow. Three defeats in one week, eight points behind the Bundesliga leaders, an impending exit from the Champions League – the current situation at Bayern was relatively critical.

Nevertheless, what followed was not exemption, but support. When asked whether Tuchel would also sit on the bench in the next game against RB Leipzig, CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen replied “of course”.

“Is Tuchel flying or not flying?”

Since then it has been clear: Tuchel will remain in office despite the crisis. But today, Tuesday, Dreesen commented again on the head coach’s situation. As “Bild” reports, a fan asked the CEO when he arrived at the office: “Is Tuchel flying or not flying?”

According to the report, Dreesen smiled and only answered after being asked. His cryptic reaction: “Let’s see.” What may not have any major meaning caused astonishment among some fans. Is Tuchel’s job in danger before Sunday? So far it doesn’t seem like that, but according to consistent media reports, the Bayern bosses are said to have discussed at least some candidates.

The names of Hansi Flick, Zinédine Zidane and Ole Gunnar Solskjær were mentioned. But it hasn’t been concrete yet.

According to “The Athletic”, Bayern ideally want to part ways with Tuchel in the summer and then woo Xabi Alonso (Bayer Leverkusen).
