Cloud of Sahara dust blows our way, Wednesday chance of dirty cars

The cars could just be full of Saharan dust again on Wednesday. A cloud is moving towards us, it will blow over Brabant in the course of Tuesday. “It brings something fun and something less fun,” says Johnny Willemsen, meteorologist at Weerplaza.

However, we will not immediately have to deal with a bucket and suds on Tuesday, says Willemsen. “During the course of tomorrow, the dust will arrive here. That will make for a very beautiful sunset. But with a bit of bad luck we will have dirty cars again on Wednesday.”

Apart from the beautiful sunset, we will not notice much of the dust tomorrow because it will not rain. Showers are expected on Wednesday, and with those showers the dust will rain from the air.

heavy showers
According to Willemsen, it depends on how hard it rains. “There can also be a heavy shower in some places, but then you won’t be bothered by dust. During heavier showers, the ratio between dust and water is too great, you will not notice the Sahara dust.”

The dust enters Brabant from the south. The amount of dust is less than last month. Then there were long lines at the car wash to wash the layer of dust from the cars.
