Is the gray waste bin fuller full of poop diapers? Then as a Hoogevener you may have four times free residual waste collected from 2026. Parents with young children get compensation in the new waste policy.
The municipality of Hoogeveen wants residents to pay at a time from January to offer the gray container. It must ensure that people better separate their garbage and there is less residual waste.
For young families that can be financially unfair, the municipality writes in a letter. The gray container could get full faster due to used diapers. Parents with little ones (up to six years old) can therefore offer the bin four times a year for free is the plan.
Residents must then indicate that they want to use it. According to Hoogeveen, they can throw away just as much as young families who live in an apartment. They throw diapers in a large (er) collection container.
The plan was first to construct sixteen diaper containers in the municipality. With that used diapers could be thrown away so that they would not get into the gray container. Only Hoogeveen cannot yet handle that type of waste separately.
The diapers would then end up on the bump with residual waste after picking up. For the time being, a council majority did not see the usefulness of this and shot the plan. In the future it could be possible.
A majority of politics then made the call: “Make sure that no one is disadvantaged by the new waste policy.”
By being more skilled for young families, the municipality therefore responds to the call. People with a medical condition, large families and residents of apartments also receive exceptions. The plan is not yet final, because the proposals have to be further elaborated. At the end of this year, the municipal administration will link back to politics and make it possible to make it definitive.
