Defending champion Bayern Munich confidently reached the final of the Top Four for the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) Cup.

Under the eyes of NBA star Dennis Schröder, coach Pablo Laso’s team defeated the six-time cup winner Bamberg Baskets 81:62 (48:32) in their own hall on Saturday (February 17, 2024).

Long-time NBA player Serge Ibaka was Bayern’s best scorer with 15 points. World champion Schröder, who had recently moved from the Toronto Raptors to the Brooklyn Nets, took advantage of the break in NBA play due to the All-Star Weekend to take a spa trip home and saw the victory of his world champion colleagues Niels Giffey, Andreas Obst and Isaac Bonga.

Bayern will face Alba or Ulm in the final

This means Bayern Munich will be in the final on Sunday (February 18, 2024). Who the team is playing against for its fourth cup victory (in the live ticker from 2 p.m), will be decided on Saturday afternoon. In the second semi-final, record cup winners Alba Berlin and champions ratiopharm Ulm will meet from 5.30 p.m.

The Top Four will take place in Munich for the third time after 2016 and 2021.
