Clear signals? Speculations about Alphonso Davies are growing

Alphonso Davies has been under contract with FC Bayern since 2019 and has long been a fixture in coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team. In the meantime, it is also becoming increasingly clear how the German record champions plan to work with the 22-year-old Canadian in the future.

After “Sport Bild” recently reported that FC Bayern would like to extend Davies’ contract, which runs until 2025, and that there are already talks with his advisor Nick Huoseh, the “kicker” is now following suit.

The specialist magazine also reports clear signals from the club to the player and the first rounds of negotiations. Davies can “well imagine” an extension in Munich, it is said. The left-back also has the 2026 World Cup in mind, which will be held in his native Canada, as well as in Mexico and the USA.

The usual environment at FC Bayern should appeal to Davies much more on the way to this career highlight than a change to another club.

Especially since his trophy collection is impressive in just four years in Europe: Among other things, Davies has won four German championships, two DFB cups and the 2020 Champions League title with FC Bayern.

FC Bayern: Alphonso Davies is probably demanding a salary increase

However, it is clear that an expansion of the cooperation will not be very favorable for the people of Munich.

“Bild” football boss Christian Falk recently reported in a column for the “Caught Offside” portal that Davies is currently already earning around nine million euros a year, but would like to move up to the next higher salary level in the event of an extension. His salary should then be well into the double-digit million range.

In terms of sport, Davies will again collect numerous arguments in 2022/2023 that speak for a long (and well-paid) future at FC Bayern. He has played 31 competitive games so far, three goals and eight assists is his outstanding record.
