Mick Schumacher’s contract with the WEC team Alpine expires at the end of the year. Now the French are putting pressure on them: they want a decision.

Clear announcement from Alpine to their driver Mick Schumacher. The German racing driver has to clarify whether he wants to drive for the racing team in the WEC next year.

“As you can imagine, we now need clarity as quickly as possible. It’s time to make a decision,” Alpine team boss Philippe Sinault told the English-language edition of “Motorsport.com”.

Schumacher has certainly spoken to other teams, as Sinault revealed: “He has made some contacts with other projects. He arouses a lot of interest and brings in a lot.” At the same time, he emphasized that they would like to continue working with the 26-year-old. “He’s really having fun with us, you can be sure of that. If he wants to continue, we definitely want to continue with him,” said the Alpine team boss.

“If he stays, it’s perfect news and fantastic. He brings a lot with him. But we’ll see. At the moment it’s not clear, it’s not 100 percent decided yet,” he added.

The IndyCar Series is also an option for Mick Schumacher

Alpine recently signed Antonio Felix da Costa as a new signing for the new season, which is why Mick Schumacher’s future with the racing team was also in limbo.

For Mick Schumacher, however, a switch to the Indy Car Series recently seemed to be a top option. He successfully completed his first test drives in the USA in mid-October and was extremely impressed afterwards. Nevertheless, he made it clear that he had not yet made a decision about his future.

There were also rumors about Schumacher changing within the WEC. He is said to be looking into joining McLaren in 2027. He was also discussed in Cadillac’s hypercar program, but was rejected.

The last race of the season in the Endurance World Championship will take place in Bahrain at the weekend (Sunday, 12:00 p.m.).
