The sound of sliding furniture and boxes fills the halls of OBS de Hekakker in Norg. The move from the school to the new temporary housing on the Brinkhofweide is in full swing. The teachers are called to set up their own classrooms.

“It is a fantastic building, really all the wishes we had is met,” says satisfied school director Han Kemker. The temporary building is new, spacious and well -ventilated.

More space could mean that setting up is easier. “But it is a bit of a puzzle,” says quality coordinator Ingrid van der Kooij while she is shifting a few desks. Yet it works nice. Two cupboards come in the corner and the desks by the window. “But we still have to see whether it will be that way in a week.”

In another classroom, Jolein Wind, teacher of group 4, is busy picking up different cupboards together with a colleague: “It is putting everything back on the spot, seeing where everything is possible and especially to see what is still possible.”

The school hopes to stay in the temporary building on the Brinkhofweide for a year and a half. The new school to be built is expected to be ready in December 2026. However, a possible delay to the spring of 2027 is already taken into account.

Kemker is confident that it will be fine. The temporary place will also be good, because the old building was really gone. “There were buckets involved in catching leaking water, they were completely full.” The old building is expected to be demolished in October.
