About a hundred people invaded the respective lanes, starting a heavy throwing of stones and smoke bombs, blocking traffic for several minutes.
Scuffles between fans occurred along the A2 Mediterranean motorway, near the San Mango Piemonte junction, in the province of Salerno. Some supporters of Casertana and Catania clashed. The former were returning from the trip to Picerno, heading north, while the latter were returning from Giugliano, traveling in the opposite lane. According to initial reconstructions, around a hundred people invaded both lanes, giving rise to stone and smoke bomb throwing. The clashes caused traffic on the highway to be temporarily blocked. When the police arrived on site, those responsible had already fled. There were no injuries or damage to the vehicles. The Salerno Police Headquarters, with the support of the Digos and the Caserta and Catania Police Headquarters, is working to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the facts and understand whether it was a chance meeting or a real meeting organized between the two fans.
