Clan member not properly greeted – shots in front of Späti

By Karin Hendrich

A gray Audi A 6 Avant stops at an intersection. Two hooded men get out, head for a late night shop, and shoot at a group of customers standing in front of it. And then flee undetected. Sounds like a mafia movie. But that’s exactly what happened. The trial against one of the suspected shooters began Thursday in the district court: Guiseppe T. (24), Italian, born in Berlin.

Review: It is November 27th, 2020 at the intersection of Mittenwalder- and Fürbringer Straße in Kreuzberg. The motive for the assassination attempt: wounded sense of honor.

The victim: Khaled Al A. (30) is a joint plaintiff. He was badly injured at the time, but survived.

Police investigations revealed that hours earlier, members of the two related Arab extended families Al A. and El. M. quarrel in front of a hairdresser. In which Bader El M. (22), who has now been sentenced to eight and a half years in prison, is said to have felt “excited to extreme anger”. Because a younger Al A., “had not first given him, the elder, the greeting appropriate to the time of day.”

While, according to the indictment, Bader El M. was waiting as the driver in the Audi, the Italian and an unknown person were supposed to take revenge on him and kill any member of the enemy clan that could be found in front of the Späti. Three shots hit the victim. However, one of the projectiles got stuck on a vertebra in the back. Which saved his life.

But that should not have been the end of the clan feud. Three days later, a large police force had to stop several men who were beating on the windows of the ground floor apartment of a member of the Al A. clan on Gneisenaustrasse.

The accused Guiseppe T., who is also accused of robbing two money messengers on January 24, 2020 in the Neukölln-Arkaden (loot: 166,000 euros), initially remained silent in court.
