City bus collides with bus stop in the center of Den Bosch: six people injured

An Arriva city bus collided with a bus stop in the center of Den Bosch around half past one on Saturday afternoon. Six people waiting there were injured. Two of them were helped in an ambulance at that stop; four others have been taken to a hospital. They were injured by flying glass, among other things.

The accident happened at Achter het Wild Varken, in the center of the city. Initially, the police spoke of five injured, so that turned out to be six.

An investigation by the police shows that the bus accidentally hit the tip of the glass roof of the bus shelter. Then it fell down.

Making it easier for passengers to board
The driver wanted to park his bus as close to the stop as possible because of the heavy rain at the time. This would make it easier for passengers to board. So that went wrong. The bus also hit a scaffolding near an adjacent building where renovations are underway. The scaffolding is damaged.

“I heard a loud bang,” says the owner of a photo shop near the bus shelter. “When I went outside I saw the injured and I saw a lot of blood. But within a minute the first aiders were already on the scene. I myself, shocked, offered people to wait in my shop.”

Emergency services called
Six ambulances and an air ambulance were called in. The fire brigade was also called in.
