Pep Guardiola’s men will face the winner between León and Urawa Red Diamonds in the semis
On the other side of the table, it remains to be seen who will be the representative of the Copa Libertadores
Pep Guardiola already knows the way to a new title. Yesterday the draw for the FIFA Club World Cup 2023 was held in Jeddah, and Manchester City knew their possible opponents in the semi-final phase. The English will face to the winning team of the quarterfinal tie between the Mexican Club León and the Japanese Urawa Red Diamondsboth with the ambition of taking on the current champions of the Champions League.
If City advance, Guardiola’s men could face any of several teams in the second semi-final, although the South American teams have yet to determine who will represent them: Boca Juniors or Palmeiras will face the winner of Fluminense-Internacional in the Copa Libertadores final to be held on November 4 in Rio de Janeiro.
One of the South American teams mentioned above will be a rival of Al-Ittihad led by Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté, Egyptian Al Ahly or Auckland City, and the winner of that match will play the grand final against City, Club León or Urawa Red Diamonds on December 22 in Jeddah. Erling Haaland refines his aim to try to win what would be the fifth title of his career as a player for the Manchester team.
