120,000 letters in eighty mail bags will be handed over tomorrow to the Asylum and Migration Committee in the House of Representatives. These letters are expressions of support for 420 rooted children and a call on national politicians to give them a residence permit.
Behind the initiative is Kerkasiel Kampen, the organization that has been providing shelter to the Uzbek Babayants family since November 24, 2024. This family, who lived in the asylum seeker center in Emmen for eight years, is in danger of being deported. But by holding an uninterrupted church service in Kampen, the church can prevent the family from being deported.
In addition to the four children from the Babayants family, more than 400 other rooted children are at risk of being deported. The massive expression of support for this group of children will be brought to the House of Representatives tomorrow afternoon by two stagecoaches, pulled by six horses. There is a manifestation for this purpose at the Malieveld, where visitors from all over the country come in white clothing, together with pastors from various churches. Representatives of Kerkasiel Kampen and prominent guests address the demonstrators.
