At Bayern, the planning for the new season is running. The next decision has already been determined in defense.

Eric dier will leave FC Bayern. Sports director Christoph Freund confirmed what was reported a few days ago on Friday at the press conference before the league game at Rasenballsport Leipzig on Saturday. “With Eric we have had discussions about an extension of the contract. He informed us that he will not be extended and will leave us,” said Freund when asked T-online.

The English central defender’s contract expires in summer. FC Bayern wanted to extend with Dier, but could not offer him the perspective as a regular player. Dier, who hoped for more playing time according to media reports, changes to AS Monaco. “It was a great time with Eric, he is also a super boy and we had a great time together. He felt very comfortable here in Munich and in the club. Hopefully he crown his time with us with his first title.”

Another factor seems to have been the duration of the contract in the case. FC Bayern did not want to offer the 31-year-old a long-term contract. But: A two -year contract was an option, says Freund. Dier decided differently. “There is another option where he can sign an even longer -term contract,” said Freund, without naming a specific club name. However, it is still unclear whether Eric dier will play the club World Cup for FC Bayern, which runs until after June 30th. “This has not yet been decided,” said friend.

When asked about Jonathan Tah, who will leave Bayer Leverkusen in summer and is also considered a candidate at FC Bayern, Freund said: “He is currently not an issue.”
