Overfull containers
Due to environmental and safety requirements, Christmas tree burnings have not been organized in the region for several years. Last year this led to overcrowded underground containers in which trees were crammed, and a large part of the greenery ended up in the water. That had to be different. That is why the municipalities of Heemskerk and Beverwijk have devised a new collection system for this year.
Drop-off points are indicated with signs at various locations, where the trees will be collected per district between January 6 and 17. This new system makes it easier for residents, but also brings challenges – especially during yesterday’s gusts.
