The Itzehoe public prosecutor’s office has officially resumed the investigation against unknown persons in the case of Christian Ulmen and Collien Fernandes. What that means.
For a week, Germany has only been talking about one topic: the case surrounding film producer Christian Ulmen and his ex-wife Collien Fernandes. She made serious allegations against the actor public. He created fake pornographic content about her over the years and forwarded it to various men. This is digital sexual violence. The case attracted a lot of attention, there were demonstrations, and calls for stricter laws are becoming louder and louder. Since then, Christian Ulmen has found himself exposed to social crossfire – and now the German justice system is also targeting him.
Public prosecutor’s investigations officially resumed
The Ulmen-Fernandes case is officially with the Itzehoe public prosecutor’s office in Schleswig-Holstein. In 2024, they investigated unknown persons following a complaint from Collien Fernandes. However, the investigation was discontinued on the grounds that the request to submit further documents on the case was not complied with.
That is now changing: the investigation is officially being resumed. Prosecutor Peter Müller-Rakow said when asked by “Bild”: “Following the media publications, the Itzehoe public prosecutor’s office has resumed the investigation against unknown persons under Section 202a of the Criminal Code.”
The paragraph in question reads: “Anyone who gains unauthorized access for himself or another person to data that is not intended for him and that is specially secured against unauthorized access, by overcoming the access security, will be punished with a prison sentence of up to three years or a fine.”
No concrete information
The senior public prosecutor did not provide any precise information as to whether this was specifically an investigation against Christian Ulmen. He simply said: “I can’t provide any specific information about this.” The resumption of the proceedings has to do with further examinations and the legal assessment of Collien Fernandes’ allegations. The question of a possible criminal offense remains open.
There are various representations about the discontinuation of the proceedings in 2024. According to the actress, no one has contacted her anymore, while the authorities justify the closure by not submitting any further documents.
The outcome of the investigation is uncertain. What is certain, however, is that the case will remain busy for a while.
