Director Christian Petzold tells of the danger of a forest fire on the Baltic Sea, of four young people, their sexual tension and self-doubt.

THE STORY: Leon (Thomas Schubert) and Felix (Langston Uibel) want to work undisturbed in a holiday home on the Baltic Sea. But then Nadja (Paula Beer) and sexual partner Devid (Enno Trebs) show up. Sexual tension meets Leon’s insecurity. And a forest fire is getting closer.

THE DIRECTOR: Christian Petzold won the Director’s Bear for “Barbara” in 2012.

THE STARS: Paula Beer won the 2020 Berlinale Actor’s Prize for Petzold’s “Undine”. Thomas Schubert shot with him for the first time.

BG RATING: No German director explores interpersonal tensions and passions as well as the driving forces of the unsaid as skillfully as Petzold. “Red Sky” is another masterpiece by an exceptional director.

BEAR CHANCE: Petzold must finally win the Golden Bear.
