Christian Kist throws the first nine-darter of this world championship. It’s still not enough to get into the second round. He has to share the bonus prize money.
The Dutchman Christian Kist threw the first nine-darter at the World Darts Championship in London. With the minimum number of nine arrows he achieved 501 points to 0, which is considered a perfect game in darts. Nevertheless, Kist lost to the Latvian Madars Razma 1:3 in the first round.
For the nine-darter there is bonus prize money of 180,000 pounds, which corresponds to around 218,000 euros. But the 38-year-old Kist only gets a third of the amount. A third will go to a viewer and a charity that supports prostate cancer research.
Nine-darters don’t happen very often at a World Championship – so the fans in the Ally Pally went wild when Kist hit the 15th nine-darter in the history of title fights.
Previously, the last time Michael Smith managed the perfect game at a World Cup was in the final in 2023 – in contrast to Kist, Smith was able to win the duel with the long-time darts dominator Michael van Gerwen.
The Filipino Paolo Nebrida had previously caused a surprise. Nebrida won against the world number 46. Jim Williams won 3-2 and made it into the second round of a World Championship for the first time in his third participation.
The qualifier kept his nerve in the deciding set. However, his Welsh opponent, who went ahead on his own throw, missed three attempts to finish. In the next round, Nebrida will face Ross Smith, number 19 on the Order of Merit.
