Christian Bale only gets the roles Leonardo DiCaprio turns down

Actor Christian Bale spoke about Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio in an interview for “GQ”. In his opinion, DiCaprio is a size too big: “All these people that I’ve worked with on several occasions offered him each of these roles first,” says the actor.

“He can choose whatever he does”

During the conversation, Bale recalled losing several roles to DiCaprio and even thanked him for it. He said, “You see, to this day, any part that someone gets is only good because they turned it down first. It doesn’t matter what someone tells you. It doesn’t matter how good friends you are with the directors. All of these people that I’ve worked with on multiple occasions offered him each of those roles first. Right? One of these people actually told me that. So thank you Leo because he can literally choose whatever he makes. And good for him, he’s phenomenal.”

As an example, he cited the role in Titanic, which he didn’t get because of DiCaprio. Despite all that, he stressed that he didn’t blame him in any way: “Do you know how grateful I am to get anything at all? I mean I can’t do what he’s doing. I wouldn’t want the attention he has either. And he’s doing great. But I would guess that almost everyone in Hollywood his age his own owes their careers to him if they get a project through.”

Bale wants to play Batman again on one condition

Christian Bale received an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in The Fighter in 2011. This year he starred in the films Thor: Love and Thunder, Amsterdam and The Memorable Case of Mr Poe. However, he became known for his role as “Batman”: He played the character in the three films “Batman Begins” (2005), “The Dark Knight” (2008) and “The Dark Knight Rises” (2012). The latter appears to be his last Batman film for the time being, as he would not resume the role as Batman until Christopher Nolan directs again.
