Will Smith’s Oscars fisticuffs against Chris Rock continue to spark conversation. Although Smith apologized to the comedian shortly afterwards via Instagram, Chris’ brother Kenny does not want to accept the apology. According to media reports, he wants Smith’s Oscar removed and also banned from future awards.

At the Oscars, Will Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock in the face after he made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head. The actor later apologized for his behavior via Instagram. He described this as “shocking, painful and inexcusable” and also resigned from the Oscar Academy.

Kenny Rock: ‘Will Smith should be banned from Oscars’

Now a close family member of Chris Rock spoke up. Kenny Rock, who is 15 years younger than his brother, is apparently still very concerned about the incident. In a report by the Los Angeles Times, he said, “It gnaws at me to watch it over and over again, because you see a loved one being attacked and there’s nothing you can do about it.” If he had his way, the Academy should strip Smith of the Oscar and ban him from all future awards.

Kenny Rock also confirmed to the tabloid TMZ that his brother didn’t know anything about Smith’s wife’s illness. He added: “The joke was funny. It wasn’t hilarious, but I know if he had known she had alopecia…he wouldn’t be joking about it. But he didn’t know.” Regarding Smith’s apology via Instagram, he thought, “Publicists and the people who work under him probably advised him to do that.” He fleshed out his stance by saying, “No, I accept she didn’t because I don’t think she was real.”

Will Smith is already feeling the first consequences of his behavior. As The Hollywood Reporter reports, Netflix has ended production on the thriller Fast And Loose for the time being.
