It was the biggest verbatim film drama in recent years: numerous myths grew up around the production and shooting of Olivia Wilde’s thriller “Don’t Worry Darling”, which was released in cinemas last September. Rumors persisted that lead actress Florence Pugh was at odds with director Olivia Wilde, that Shia LaBeouf was fired by Wilde (which he later denied) — and then a video surfaced of lead actor Harry appearing to be spitting Styles on his co-star Chris Pine.

At the time, a fan tweeted a short video of the incident that occurred at the film’s premiere, and the clip quickly went viral. “It looks like #HarryStyles is spitting on Chris Pine ‘I won’t sleep until I know the truth,'” he commented. In fact, at a cursory glance, it looks like Styles is spitting on Pine’s seat, as Pine suddenly looks very irritated and looks down at his lap. Now Chris Pine has commented on the alleged incident.

“Harry didn’t spit at me. Harry is a very, very lovely guy”

In a new video interview with Esquire, in which he is promoting his upcoming film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, the 42-year-old says: “Harry didn’t spit on me. Harry is a very, very kind guy.” He goes on to explain, “I think what he said is – he leaned down – and said, ‘It’s just words, isn’t it?’ We had this little joke. We’re all jet lagged, we’re all trying to answer these questions. Sometimes when you’re doing this press work, your brain gets all fogged up and you start talking gibberish. And we had a joke, ‘Those are just words, man.’”
