Chinese fashion fair Chic Spring is scheduled to take place in Nanjing at the end of May

Due to the current development of the Covid-19 pandemic in China, the Chic Spring fashion fair has been postponed again. The event is also moving: Instead of the usual Shanghai, it will now take place in Nanjing from May 20th to 22nd, the organizers announced on Tuesday.

“The latest developments caused by the virus variant Omicron in China and especially in Shanghai have prompted the CHIC organizers to take this step,” says a statement. With this move, “the interests of international exhibitors and visitors” would be taken into account.

In view of the worsening of the pandemic situation, the trade fair originally planned for March had already been postponed to April 14th to 16th, but this date could no longer be met either.

The new venue is the Nanjing International Expo Center. In May, trade visitors can expect “the areas of womenswear, menswear, kidswear, denim, shoes and bags, accessories, designers and streetwear in clearly arranged segments”. The fair is organized by the companies Beijing Fashion Expo Co. Ltd. and China World Exhibition. Sponsors are the China National Garment Association, the China World Trade Center and the Subcouncil of Textile Industry (CCPIT).

According to the organizers, the new venue is a center of the local fashion industry: “The province of Jiangsu with its capital Nanjing includes numerous fashion clusters such as the Changshu Garment Industrial Cluster for leather and downwear, menswear, womenswear, the Suzhou Garment Industrial Cluster or the Xinqiao Knitwear Industrial clusters in Jiangyin,” they said in a statement. The city of Nanjing itself is known for its womenswear industry.
