With a market value of 35 million euros, Dušan Vlahović is one of the most valuable professionals with his contract expiring in the summer of 2026. Giorgio Chiellini, who is responsible for scouting and squad planning at Juventus Turin, confirmed on Thursday that the 26-year-old Serb will be leaving the club. “I’m very sorry, he fought for Juve until the end,” said the 41-year-old.
Vlahović moved from AC Fiorentina to Juventus Turin in January 2022 for 85.4 million euros – only three players in the club’s history were more expensive, including Cristiano Ronaldo (117 million, Real Madrid). In 168 games, the attacker scored 68 goals and prepared 16 more; he was unable to win the Scudetto with the record champions. Since his move to Juve, the Serbian international’s market value has halved from 70 million to 35 million euros, also because he has repeatedly struggled with injuries. He missed 25 games last season.
Juve recently tried to present Vlahović with a new contract, but an agreement could not be reached. “He is a serious person. With these sums he will not stay in Italy, but it is legitimate that he is looking for a different type of contract,” explained Chiellini, who was primarily concerned with the club’s finances. “Juve will become a force to be reckoned with again. We have to learn from the mistakes we’ve made.” Since the 2020/21 season, the Old Lady has had a transfer loss of 309 million euros – more than any other Italian club. With Jonathan David, Loïs Openda and Arkadiusz Milik, there are three other attackers in Luciano Spalletti’s squad.
Only one player whose contract ends in the summer has a higher market value than Vlahović. Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté, who is set to move to Real Madrid, is valued at €45m according to the Premier League’s market value update. In the TM rumor mill, Vlahović is linked to FC Bayern, Manchester United and AC Milan.
