The Russian Defense Ministry announced that it had taken full control of the territory in the area of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
“Yesterday, February 24 of this year, units of the Russian Airborne Forces took full control of the territory in the area of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant,” Major General Igor Konashenkov, spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry, said.
Konashenkov said that the Russian military will ensure the safety of the power units and the sarcophagus together with the military personnel of a separate guard battalion of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
Previously, several dozen Ukrainian military laid down their arms. They noted that the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelenskyin whom they had placed their hopes, deceived their expectations.
After the Russian Armed Forces launched a special operation in the Donbass, martial law was introduced in Ukraine and the general mobilization.
