Cher files for guardianship of youngest son

Cher has reportedly filed for guardianship of her youngest son, Elijah Blue Allman. Accordingly, she is said to fear “serious” drug problems. According to court documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, the singer is requesting to be the sole manager of her son’s financial affairs.

People writes that according to the filing, a trustee is “urgently needed” to “protect Elijah’s property from loss or injury.” He is “currently unable to manage his assets due to serious mental health issues and substance abuse.”

Drugs and psychological crises

According to the documents, Allman’s estranged wife, Marie Angela King, was unsuitable as an administrator because “their tumultuous relationship was marked by a cycle of drug addiction and mental health crises.”

It continues: “Elijah is entitled to regular payouts of his assets, but given his ongoing mental health and drug problems, his mother is concerned that any money paid out to him will immediately be spent on drugs, leaving her son or he potentially without any assets putting his life at risk.”

In conclusion, the filing states that Cher “worked tirelessly to get Elijah into treatment and help.” She loves Elijah immensely and has always acted in his best interests. The singer was said to have been unable to discuss preferences regarding the appointment of a temporary guardian with Elijah “due to his current mental and physical health condition.”

A temporary order hearing is currently scheduled for January 5, 2024, while the permanent order hearing will follow on March 6, 2024.
