Cher and Madonna “buried the hatchet a long time ago”

Cher has insulted Madonna in the past, calling her “mean” and a “spoiled brat,” among other things.

Madonna and Cher seem to have never been best friends. In the past, the musicians publicly insulted each other with some unpleasant expressions. Whether it’s irony or provocation: Madonna uses this hostility on her current “Celebration” tour and shows interview excerpts from Cher in the background as she uninhibitedly insults the “Queen of Pop”. The 77-year-old singer now reacted to this kind of staging and explained that the dispute between the pop icons was long in the past.

The background video excerpts in question come from an interview from 1991 with the US television station “CBS”. In the conversation, Cher called her colleague “mean” and a “spoiled brat.” “I think that when you achieve the kind of recognition that she achieved, you should be a little more magnanimous and a little less of a bitch,” the “Believe” singer said in the clip.

When asked about the insults by the Los Angeles Times, Cher said: “I’ve said much worse things. I actually like her. But come on.” As a result, there would be no more bad blood between the artists. When asked if Madonna could still be mean, she continued: “She can be. But we buried the hatchet a long time ago because I called her something much worse, and she forgave me.”

Cher also made it clear in the conversation that she even admired Madonna for her trendiness. “There is no one like her, who had her finger on the pulse and knew everything before anyone else. “I mean, she knew what was coming and she was there right away,” the artist explained. “I always felt like that was her greatest gift – that she knew the trends before all of us.”

Madonna’s tour kicked off on October 14th with a series of performances in London after she had to cancel her US concerts in June due to a “severe bacterial infection”. The “Queen of Pop” will also be coming to Berlin’s Mercedes-Benz Arena for two gigs on November 28th and 29th.
