Just five days after the decision of the UEFA, FC Chelsea used a change of rule in the Champions League and nominated Facundo Buonanotte (20). The offensive player replaces Dário Essugo (20), who had to undergo an operation because of a thigh injury. Non -nominations of field players for the registration list in the premier class were not yet possible, but last Thursday the UEFA changed the regulations in this regard.
“The reason for this adaptation is to ensure that the squadlists are not unfairly reduced and the players are protected from additional burden,” said a statement by the continental association. For this reason, a field player-but not more-can be temporarily replaced on the a maximum of 25 names comprehensive A list in the event of a lengthy injury or illness. However, this only goes up to and including the 6th matchday, which takes place on December 9th and 10th.
In addition, the player who is said to move up must have been hired before the registration period for the Champions League – this year on September 2 at midnight. Buonanotte signed the blues the day before. The Ognjen Mimovic (21), which was only given a week ago by Fenerbahce to Königsklassen-Neuling Pafos FC FC FC, must not have any hopes of nomination. If a locally trained player is replaced, the successor must also meet this requirement.
But when is a failure lengthy? “An injury or illness of a field player is considered lengthy if it lasts at least 60 days from the day of occurrence,” defines the UEFA, which must be presented by a medical certificate. In the event of concerns, the continental association can order a further medical examination. As soon as the originally reported player is operational again, he can take his place on the registration list again. The substitute must then be canceled. If an injured player gets fit faster than forecast, he must wait for a return by the end of the 60 days.
Champions League regulation for goalkeepers also expanded
There was already an exception for goalkeepers, the period of a failure is only limited to 30 days. If at least two keepers from the A-list are not available, the failing goalkeeper may be replaced by another. There are no restrictions like the field players. The UEFA has now supplemented that a permanent transfer of a goalkeeper enables subsequent nomination until the 6th matchday of the league. If the association in question makes it into the knockout phase, the resigned goalkeeper counts as one of three new players who can be placed on the A list after the winter transfer window.
