All’s well that ends well for Chelsea, who are once again experiencing a dismal season in the Premier League. Mauricio Pochettino’s team is ninth in the top English division and seems to be able to forget European football next season. Unless Chelsea win the League Cup, the winner of the cup tournament will receive a ticket for the Conference League play-offs.

The team from London was on edge after the previous 1-0 defeat against Middelsbrough, which plays in the second level. The return was already decided in the first half. Middlesbrough captain Jonathan Howson headed Raheem Sterling’s cross into his own goal, after which Enzo Fernández finished off a nice attack. Axel Disasi and Cole Palmer increased the score before halftime, 4-0.

Morgan Rogers returned the favor in the 88th minute, 6-1. Anfernee Dijksteel came on after the break for Middlesbrough, Rav van den Berg played the entire match.

Liverpool in action on Wednesday

The other semi-final is between Fulham and Liverpool. They will play their second game in London on Wednesday. The first match in Liverpool ended in a 2-1 win for the leader of England.

Newcomer Sheraldo Becker is immediately valuable to Real Sociedad

Real Sociedad has reached the semi-finals of the Spanish Cup. The number 6 of La Liga won 2-1 against Celta de Vigo. Surinamese international Sheraldo Becker scored one of Real Sociedad’s goals in his debut match. He exchanged 1. FC Union Berlin for Real Sociedad last week.

The 28-year-old from Amsterdam was in the starting line-up against Celta. He made it 2-0 in the 66th minute after a quick breakout. Mikel Oyarzabal had already scored the opening goal in the 2nd minute. Luca de la Torre only made it 2-1 for Celta in injury time.
