Actually, Ishe Samuels-Smith in Strasbourg was supposed to take the next development step in his career. But after a little more than a month he is gone again.

A transfer with a short half-life: Just 33 days after moving to Strasbourg, Ishe Samuels-Smith is gone again-and ends up loan from the English second division club Swansea City. The starting point for the unusual path is his Chelsea regular club.

The 19-year-old defender changed from Chelsea to Strasbourg at the end of July. The transfer fee was not announced. Both clubs are in possession of Blueco, the consortium, which among other things belongs to the US investor Todd Boehly. But in Strasbourg Samuels-Smith did not get beyond a bank place in Ligue 1 at the start of the season.

According to the regulations of the World Association, players may be registered for up to three clubs in one season, but only appear in competitive games for two clubs. Samuels-Smith remains more compliant.

The fact that the change came about is also likely to be related to the contract extension of Strasbourg’s central defender Ismael Doukouré, which signed a contract until 2028. For Samuels-Smith, switching to the championship is now a way to regularly collect game practice.

Samuels-Smith changed in the summer of 2023 for around four million pounds from Everton to Chelsea. He has not yet been used for the first team, but was an integral part of the U21 and recently led the team as captain. In April he signed a long -term contract until 2031.

A total of six Chelsea players switched to Strasbourg within the transfer period. In addition to Samuels-Smith, Mathis Amougou and Ben Chilwell also permanently joined the French club. Mike Penders, Kendry Paez and Mamadou Sarr were borrowed-the clubs scored the FIFA limit from three rental players between the same clubs.
