Enzo Fernández publicly raves about life in Spain. His current employer reacts rigorously. Now his advisor speaks out.

Enzo Fernández’s agent has reacted to the midfielder’s suspension by Chelsea FC. “Enzo didn’t understand the situation. He accepted the decision because he is an absolute professional, but we don’t understand the punishment,” Javier Pastore told The Athletic portal.

The 25-year-old World Cup winner said in a podcast that he would like to live in Madrid, which fueled speculation about a possible move to Real Madrid. Fernández had previously left it open in his statements whether he would stay at Chelsea beyond the end of the season. Fernández is under contract with the “Blues”, who paid an estimated 120 million euros to Benfica Lisbon in 2023, until 2032.

Chelsea then dropped Fernández from the squad for two games for disciplinary reasons. The professional will not play in the FA Cup quarter-final against Port Vale on Saturday or in the Premier League home game against Manchester City on Sunday in a week’s time.

Counselor Pastore called the punishment “completely unfair.” Fernández only spoke about Madrid as a city, “but at no point did he say that he wanted to leave Chelsea or London,” he continued.

Chelsea coach Liam Rosenior explained the background to the decision in a statement: “I think a line has been crossed in terms of our corporate culture and our goals.” And further: “That’s why we had to impose sanctions, and that’s the decision we made.”

But the coach didn’t want to completely break the baton about his professional. “But that doesn’t mean that the door is finally closed for Enzo. That’s very important,” emphasized Rosenior: “It’s a sanction, because at this football club, a successful club with a long tradition, you have to protect this culture.”
